Position Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant- PNS (CMA) will be responsible for accompanying patients to exam rooms, preparing patients for exams, performing and documenting vital signs, assisting with procedures, preparing and administering medications with physician’s authorization. The CMA will provide patient education with regards to office policies, medications and transitional care of patients. The CMA at times may retrieve lab and x-ray reports, call in prescriptions, telephone triage, obtain referrals and authorizations, and complete medical forms. The CMA may be asked to assist with other office responsibilities i.e. answering office phones, scheduling appointments, filing, ordering medical and office supplies, stocking exam rooms, etc.
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
Experience:
- A Minimum of 2 years prior experience working in physician office setting required. 5 years preferred.
- Knowledge of standard medical office practices and procedures required.
- Knowledge of current referral sources/authorization processes preferred.
- Phlebotomy training preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through an accredited agency required.
- Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification required.

Physical Requirements:
Light-Medium - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 15 to 20 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or 5 to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 5 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to hear to process instructions and safety code and alarms required.
