The Analyst is responsible for identifying sales, assortment and inventory improvement opportunities while managing and optimizing online and in-store inventory that drives sales, margin and store performance through the formulation and execution of effective allocation strategies. This position also acts as a liaison between stores, planning, logistics and other cross functional partners.
A great candidate will have outstanding critical thinking and problem-solving skills, a deep understanding of how to use data to drive decisions, and advanced Excel skills including the ability to work with large data sets. The ideal candidate will also have experience with inventory planning and allocation processes/tools in an apparel business, the ability to collaborate effectively with and manage execution across multiple teams, and experience managing inventory in apparel or another high-SKU category with size or color variations.
How You Will Make a Difference:
· Execute daily/weekly deployment of product to stores to improve inventory levels, maximizing sales plans and trends.
· Formulate preseason assortment strategies, taking into account inventory levels, store clusters, timing of merchandise delivery and minimum presentation.
· Analyze stock to sales performance by Gender, Class, Category and Key/Core Items to maximize store in-stock positions based on capacity constraints, regional seasonality, and sales trends to maximize sales and inventory turn.
· Monitor merchandise availability and proactively communicate issues or opportunities to the planning team and management.
· Develop thorough knowledge of store, district, and regional level performance, variances, trends and attributes (store and product) through extensive data analysis and communication with the field and applying knowledge to allocation strategies.
· Develop, allocate and monitor store opening assortment and unit plans for both new stores that ensure appropriate opening stock levels.
· Analyze and update size profiles by store by product category that are integrated into allocations both initial and replenishment. Develop and provide appropriate ad-hoc analysis and recommendations to influence buy plan and assortment strategies.
· Identify consolidation and transfer opportunities to ensure the most efficient use of inventory across all selling channels.
· Track ETA & allocation of incoming shipments to confirm alignment with demand plans and marketing events, proposing expedited shipping if/when necessary.
· Partner and communicate with the warehouse operations, production and IT teams to improve processes/reporting, investigate issues and manage purchase order priorities.
· Develop a strong and effective field communication routine to capture location-based opportunities as well as minimize or limit liabilities.
· Participate in cross functional meetings – leverage analytics to influence decision making.
· Work collaboratively across multiple functions and departments within the organization.
· Support and execute testing strategies, category specific initiatives and ad-hoc analysis.
· Support inventory management between digital, wholesale and store channels.
· Assist in the production and analysis of statistical performance reports.
· Assist with ad-hoc projects as needed.
What You Will Bring:
· 1-3 years of inventory management and/or store analysis experience; brick & mortar allocation experience preferred.
· 4-year college degree required or equivalent work experience.
· Experience in high volume, fast paced, retail environment or equivalent.
· Outstanding critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
· A deep understanding of how to use data to drive decisions.
· Advanced Excel skills including the ability to work with large data sets.
· Strong organizational and time management skills; able to effectively manage multiple priorities.
· Ability to collaborate effectively with and manage execution across multiple teams.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Comfort with ambiguity and passion/excitement for building new tools and processes.
