This role translates internet Product Strategy into Network Architecture. It engineers internet products and services and ensures they can operate robustly and efficiently on our network. It advises network development to support new products and services, as well as advising Product on current and future network capabilities to help optimize the value delivered to the customer. As a key member of the strategic network planning group, you will play a critical role in designing, optimizing, and managing the network infrastructure that powers our cutting-edge products. Your expertise in traffic engineering will be instrumental in ensuring optimal network performance, reliability, and scalability.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Network Architecture Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design network roadmaps that align with the requirements of our products. Leverage your expertise in traffic engineering to create efficient and reliable network layouts that deliver optimal performance and low latency in alignment with product delivery.


    • Traffic Engineering: Apply advanced traffic engineering principles to analyze, model, and optimize network traffic patterns. Design network strategies that minimize congestion, maximize throughput, ensure Quality of Service (QoS) for critical applications, and build methodology how we measure service performance.


    • Capacity Planning: Utilize your in-depth knowledge of traffic patterns and network utilization to perform capacity planning. Anticipate future growth and demand and recommend infrastructure upgrades or expansions to maintain a high level of service.


    • Network Optimization: Continuously monitor and analyze network performance metrics. Identify opportunities for optimization, implement adjustments to network configurations, and fine-tune traffic routing to enhance overall efficiency.


    • Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with product managers, software engineers, and network operations teams to gather requirements, share insights, and contribute to the development of network-related features. Create and provide detailed documentation and presentations of network designs, configurations, strategic policies, and best practices.


    • Emerging Technologies: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies related to traffic engineering and network optimization. Evaluate and recommend new tools, protocols, or strategies that can enhance network performance and reliability.


    Qualifications

    Minimum:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline and 4 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 2 years' experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 8 years' experience in a related field.
    • Skills needed include data analysis and modeling, traffic engineering, telecommunications and networks fundamentals, systems thinking, and collaboration.
    • Experience with modern data analysis and BI tools, such as JMP, Tableau, Power BI, Kibana, Grafana, etc.
    • Proficiency analyzing data and creating statistical analysis models: Correlation Analysis, Regression (R-squared), time series forecasting, etc.
    • Extensive professional experience in network engineering with a focus on traffic engineering.
    • In-depth knowledge of network protocols, routing algorithms, and Quality of Service mechanisms.
    • Proficiency in network simulation and modeling tools (e.g., NS-3, OPNET, or similar).


    • Familiarity with software-defined networking (SDN) concepts and implementations.
    • Knowledge of DOCSIS and Fiber network
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
    • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey complex technical concepts.


    Preferred:

    • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certifications.
    • Experience with cloud networking and virtualization technologies.
    • Knowledge of data center networking architectures and best practices.
