Being a Nursing Unit Secretary performs administrative activities in compliance with all regulations. Requires a high school diploma. Job Summary
This position is responsible for performing general secretarial, receptionist and clerical duties in an accurate and timely manner and for providing indirect patient observation services in accordance with the initial plan of care, as directed by the Registered Nurse.
Assists in maintaining a safe environment by communicating patient needs to the nursing staff. Understands and is knowledgeable in birth certificate and vital record gathering or capable to learn.
This includes but is not limited to efficient, orderly and accurate processing of the patient’s record, courteous interaction and timely response to phone calls and call lights, and accurate and timely initiation of department protocols.
Also includes Birth Certificate data gathering / submission and escorting / transportng patients. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
High school diploma or its equivalent.
Preferred Job Requirements
Completion of a medical terminology course or at least one year working in the medical field
