Nutrition Director directs and oversees all aspects of an organization's or institution's nutrition guidelines and initiatives. Oversees institution of basic nutrition plans including individualized menu plans and monitors intake and acceptance of meals, snacks, and supplements. Being a Nutrition Director monitors and ensures proper nutrition education is provided. May oversee menu planning or food service operations. Additionally, Nutrition Director requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) from Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Typically reports to top management. The Nutrition Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Nutrition Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Responsibilities Include:

    1. Performing comprehensive nutritional assessments and follow-ups using evidence-based practices.
    2. Delivering nutritional care in accordance with the facility's policies.
    3. Documenting patient assessments, setting nutritional goals, and charting interventions in the medical record.
    4. Administering medical nutrition therapy for various conditions such as wound healing, weight management, etc.
    5. Managing patients with tube feeding needs.
    6. Providing nutritional counseling and education to both patients and their families.
    7. Notifying nursing staff and physicians of significant changes in a patient's nutritional status.
    8. Participating actively in interdisciplinary team meetings.
    9. Adhering to all facility’s policies and procedures, including confidentiality and patient’s rights.
    10. Performing other assigned tasks efficiently.

    Requirements:

    1. Must be registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
    2. Experience in providing nutrition education (e.g., weight management, diabetes management, etc.)
    3. Proficiency in providing medical nutrition therapy.
    4. Strong oral and written communication skills.
    5. Experience with electronic charting systems.
