Nutrition Director directs and oversees all aspects of an organization's or institution's nutrition guidelines and initiatives. Oversees institution of basic nutrition plans including individualized menu plans and monitors intake and acceptance of meals, snacks, and supplements. Being a Nutrition Director monitors and ensures proper nutrition education is provided. May oversee menu planning or food service operations. Additionally, Nutrition Director requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) from Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Typically reports to top management. The Nutrition Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Nutrition Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • Overview:
    We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to join our team as the Director of Nutrition Service. As part of our dietary department, you will play a vital role in providing nutrition services to our students.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Oversees recruitment, employment, assignment, transfer, promotion, demotion, or dismissal of all cafeteria personnel.
    • Standardizes and administers personnel policies and evaluates cafeteria managers and office staff.
    • Manages all contracts for the school corporation’s purchasing and vendor bid processes for all items which require bid by law or Board policy.
    • Maintain and analyze all components and nutrient levels of menu items per USDA guidelines.
    • Maintains inventory tracking system of all food supplies, other supplies and equipment.
    • Oversees and attests to the accuracy of all food service record keeping including invoices, purchase orders, and payroll for cafeteria personnel.
    • Performs all claims reimbursement for food service function.
    • Oversees and implements compliance requirements, including reporting, for all state and federal mandates.
    • Oversees all technology solutions that pertain to food service including menu planning, account activity and payroll.
    • Standardizes cafeteria accounting procedures and works with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure accurate and complete bookkeeping.
    • Reviews and approves applications for federal/state subsidy programs.
    • Reviews and evaluates all requests and recommendations for purchase of new and replacement equipment.
    • Provides input as needed when school renovation of school kitchen and cafeteria space is undertaken.
    • Oversees the activities of direct reports, including office staff and Cafeteria Managers.
    • Inspects school lunch facilities and operations to ensure standards of diet, cleanliness, health and safety are maintained.
    • Standardizes pricing structure for lunches and size of portions served.
    • Keeps patrons and the public informed of the menus and services offered by the food service program and of the health and educational benefits gained by children through participation in the program.
    • Performs other tasks and assumes responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel.

    Position Requirements:

    • B.A. or B.S. degree required.
    • Experience in school food service operations and employee supervision.
    • Minimum of three years of experience in the above fields preferred, with five years required for degrees outside of the broader realm of food and nutrition.
    • Working knowledge of budget preparation and operation efficiency.
    • Such alternatives and additional qualifications as the Board and Superintendent deem appropriate.

    Reports to: Assistant Superintendent for Personnel

    Supervises: All Nutrition Services Personnel

    Length of Contract: One Year (252 days)

    Position Salary is determined by the following: Degree, Experience and Staff Supervised
