Occupational Medicine Director directs the design and implementation of occupational medicine service offerings that support the needs of local businesses and workers. Maintains working relationships with local industries to ensure current issues are addressed and that the needs of the working community are met. Being an Occupational Medicine Director analyzes occupation related costs and case data; reports trends and status to management. Develops programs, guidelines, and standards for occupational service delivery that support the organization's overall strategy. Additionally, Occupational Medicine Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. The Occupational Medicine Director manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function.     Job Summary

    This job represents Prisma Health and its workers with provision of direct and indirect nursing care to employees of client companies served by Occupational Health Services. Works under policies, procedures, and medical directives approved by the Occupational Health Services Medical Director, but is independent in the application of nursing knowledge and skills onsite at client company location(s). All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health values of compassion, dignity, excellence, integrity, and teamwork and abide by Prisma Health Behavioral Expectations at all times.

    Accountabilities

    • Triage injured/exposed employees, administer basic first aid, prepares for MD/NP evaluation, and provides case management of injured/exposed employees per client company request/needs. - 20%
    • Performs health assessment, documents, reviews findings, evaluates screening results, refers as indicated and conducts appropriate follow-up for both work related and non-work related conditions. - 15%
    • Participates in client company's substance abuse testing program by collecting and processing specimens, monitoring results receipt, and reporting results to appropriate personnel as indicated per policy/procedure. - 15%
    • Draws labs, and performs occupational health testing as required by regulatory agencies for client company employees (audiograms, vision screening, pulmonary function testing and related tests. - 10%
    • Responds to client company representative on relevant employee health matter. - 10%
    • Maintains inventory of appropriate supplies and educational material at onsite clinic. - 10%
    • Maintains accurate and timely state and federal mandated records including DHEC, OSHA, TJC, NRC as assigned by client company. - 5%
    • Supports onsite clinic function by participating in programs supported in conjunction with client company safety and employee health and wellness programs. - 10%
    • Supports clinic function by participating in and implementing Occupational Health Services policy development and operational improvement. - 2%
    • Assists with clinical duties as assigned at various Occupational Health Services locations and provides back up nursing support\u00A0 for workers comp and occupational health testing related duties as needed. - 3%

    Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

    This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Associates Degree - Nursing
    • 5 years - Nursing practice

    Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

    • RN (South Carolina)
    • Current CPR/BLS certification

    Knowledge, Skills or Abilities

    • Strong physical assessment background preferably in urgent or emergency care. - Preferred

    • Knowledge of Workers Compensation and case management processes. - Preferred
    • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing. - Preferred
