Ophthalmic Technician jobs in Arizona

Ophthalmic Technician provides technical services to assigned ophthalmic patients and assists ophthalmologists or optometrists in the examination and treatment of eye disorders. Takes patient history, conducts visual acuity screenings, and performs various technical procedures, including refractometry, tonometry, lensometry, and keratometry. Being an Ophthalmic Technician prepares patients for exams and procedures. Operates, maintains, and sanitizes ophthalmic equipment and instruments. Additionally, Ophthalmic Technician may assist physicians in performing minor surgical and laser procedures. May dispense contact lenses. Typically requires an associate degree. May require Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA). May require Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT). Typically reports to a manager.   • Full Time Ophthalmic Technician needed for a full-scope private practice in Gilbert. The ideal candidate is a team player that is friendly, adaptable, and willing to learn from others. Primary responsibilities will include checking in patients, pretesting patients, gathering patient information and documenting results electronically. On job training is provided and willingness to cross train to other roles is a plus. Salary will be determined by experience but willing to train motivated individuals new to the industry.

    As an Ophthalmic Technician, you’ll be responsible for preparing patients for their exam with the doctor. You’ll gather important medical information from the patient, perform preliminary tests, and gather measurements while providing highest quality of care and an exceptional patient experience.

    Responsibilities:

    • Welcome patients and visitors with a positive and warm disposition
    • Work collaboratively to maintain efficient patient flow
    • Obtain patient histories through intake assessments, making note of findings.
    • Perform visual acuity, auto-refraction, visual field testing, lensometry, tonometry, topography, fundus photography and other testing.
    • Maintain exam rooms and supplies, including cleaning/sterilization as necessary

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • 1-year of experience in Optometry or Ophthalmology preferred but not required, willing to train
    • General computer and typing skills
    • Detail oriented; reliable and able to multi-task
    • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
    • Being flexible with your schedule but Tuesday through Friday work schedule is a must.
    • Reliable transportation to and from location

    Education:

    • High school or equivalent

    Experience:

    • Ophthalmology: 1 year (Preferred) or
    • Optometry: 1 year (Preferred)

    Hours per week/Business hours:

    • Tuesday 8-6pm, Wednesday 10-7pm, Thursday 8-6pm, Friday 7-4pm
    • 38-40 hours a week
