Ophthalmic Technician jobs in Kansas

Ophthalmic Technician provides technical services to assigned ophthalmic patients and assists ophthalmologists or optometrists in the examination and treatment of eye disorders. Takes patient history, conducts visual acuity screenings, and performs various technical procedures, including refractometry, tonometry, lensometry, and keratometry. Being an Ophthalmic Technician prepares patients for exams and procedures. Operates, maintains, and sanitizes ophthalmic equipment and instruments. Additionally, Ophthalmic Technician may assist physicians in performing minor surgical and laser procedures. May dispense contact lenses. Typically requires an associate degree. May require Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA). May require Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT). Typically reports to a manager.   • Hunkeler Eye Institute is a private practice seeking a motivated, reliable, and personable technician to join our team. We have two Ophthalmologists and an Optometrist. We are a medical only practice and do not see routine exams. The surgeons primarily perform cataract, refractive, and glaucoma surgeries as well as treating retinal conditions with injections. Minor procedures, such as lid lesions, are performed in office. Quality patient care is our highest priority. We are seeking someone who has the professionalism, work ethic, and personality to meet this goal, and we prefer employees who wish to stay and grow here with our expanding practice. Starting pay is $19 per hour but increases based on certification and experience. Additionally, there is a sign on bonus of $1,000 payable at 90 days after hire.

    Responsibilities and Duties: patient work-up including history and pre-testing (e.g. visual acuities, tonometry, pupil assessment, refraction). Special testing including OCT, topography, keratometry, visual fields.

    Qualifications and Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, strong computer skills/Electronic Medical Records. One year of experience in optometry or ophthalmology is required. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Please do not apply if you do not have relevant experience or full-time availability.
