Organizational Development Director jobs in District of Columbia

Organizational Development Director directs the design, planning, and implementation of corporate organizational development programs, policies, and procedures. Approves change management initiatives and suggests enhancements to existing programs. Being an Organizational Development Director oversees the development of programs to build human capital and a strong employee development culture. Reviews key performance metrics to enable accurate and valid measurement of workforce performance and to identify areas for improvement. Additionally, Organizational Development Director proposes changes to organizational structure to leverage talent and provide development opportunities to key leaders in the organization. Develops systematic collection and evaluation of performance metrics. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Organizational Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Organizational Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Accountabilities:

    • Lead and partner in the development and the execution of outreach strategies to advance the company’s public policy goals, engaging collaboratively with third party stakeholders (e.g., patient advocacy organizations, medical societies, industry partners).
    • Engage and demonstrate leadership with trade associations and/or coalitions in which the company participates. 
    • Demonstrate and maintain strong working relationships with key influencers.
    • Manage activities and proactively outreach to stakeholders that establish or build on AstraZeneca’s relationships with third party stakeholders and serve as a connector and a source of credible information by consistently delivering meaningful opportunities and relevant communications to partners.
    • Collaborate effectively cross-functionally with global and therapeutic area advocacy teams to advance shared priorities.
    • Execute inline product outreach across different disease states including oncology and chronic disease.
    • Lead and drive public policy solutions through external partnership.
    • Provide leadership within the company on federal public policy issues, including environment and sustainability and equitable access to care.
    • Understand and accurately align to the company’s business goals and priorities.
    • Proactively identify emerging issues and opportunities in the legislative and political environment.
    • Evaluate, with cross functional partners, the political and policy implications of campaign approaches to increase the sustainability of campaigns with changes in government.
       

    Essential Skills/Experience:

    • Requires a Bachelor's degree
    • 8 years of equivalent experience
    • Experience in the healthcare sector
    • Strong internal stakeholder 
    • Ability in alliance building capabilities
    • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communications (public speaking and writing) skills
    • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills
    • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical regulatory issues and regulatory and political processes
    • Proficiency in standard business software applications
    • Travel up to 20% of time
       

    Desirable Skills/Experience:

    • Advanced degree
    • Experience working in a highly matrixed organization
    • Experience working on Capitol Hill, at a Federal agency or at The White House
    • Experience working at or with patient advocacy, industry trade association and other groups seeking to advance chronic disease awareness and patient access to care
