Organizational Development Director directs the design, planning, and implementation of corporate organizational development programs, policies, and procedures. Approves change management initiatives and suggests enhancements to existing programs. Being an Organizational Development Director oversees the development of programs to build human capital and a strong employee development culture. Reviews key performance metrics to enable accurate and valid measurement of workforce performance and to identify areas for improvement. Additionally, Organizational Development Director proposes changes to organizational structure to leverage talent and provide development opportunities to key leaders in the organization. Develops systematic collection and evaluation of performance metrics. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Organizational Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Organizational Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.       • Job Duties
        • Directs, develops and executes organization-wide strategic talent management initiatives including talent assessment, leadership and employee development, clinical, non-clinical, technical, regulatory/accreditation, and safety competency, Epic electronic medical record proficiency, change management and succession planning.
        • Develops and executes Mercy’s organizational development and learning strategic plan and annual goals. 
        • Designs and delivers education, programs and initiatives that advance leader and employee development, talent management, employee engagement/retention and succession planning.
        • Hires, trains, develops, manages and mentors team of organizational development and learning professionals. 
        • Serves as a coach, consultant and advisor to leaders to address talent management and development needs at the individual, team, and organizational levels to enhance employee retention and engagement.
        • Partners with Mercy leaders and other key stakeholders to identify and address organizational development and learning needs, gaps, and opportunities. 
        • Establishes and cultivates successful academic partnerships and student experiences to deliver effective training and development programs and enhance Mercy’s recruitment pipeline.
        • Develops, oversees, and executes Discovering Mercy and new leader orientation and onboarding programs.
        • Collaborates with Mercy’s Director of Human Resources and other cross-functional teams to ensure that organizational development initiatives are integrated with HR initiatives, programs and processes.
        • Works closely with the Senior Vice President & Chief Talent Officer to support Mercy’s succession planning strategy through the design and execution of high potential talent assessment, review and development programs.
        • Provides strategic leadership for the use of simulation resources to optimize equipment utilization and staff/student learning experiences. 
        • Monitors and measures training effectiveness and satisfaction through appropriate mechanisms to evaluate and implement improvements as needed.
        • Leads the planning and administration of Mercy’s employee engagement survey and supports leaders in action plan development and execution.
        • Supports the Librarian managing the Watts Library and its collections, and Mercy’s archives and art collections.
        • Develops and manages departmental operating and staffing budgets and vendor contracts/relationships. Evaluates cost effectiveness and return on investment.
        • Designs, directs and administers change management interventions in support of organizational strategies and goals.
        • Advances the Mercy Touch culture and supports Mercy's diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
        • Remains current with industry trends and best practices in organizational development and bring innovative ideas and solutions to drive continuous improvement.
        • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
      • Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job- specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries.

    • Professional Experience
      • 7 years of leadership experience in organizational development, talent development, human resources or combination of thereof required.
      • Experience in organizational design, succession planning, talent assessment, management and development needs, strategies and interventions required.
      • Experience in designing, implementing and evaluating competency-based leadership and employee development programs required.
      • Experience in advising, coaching, and consulting with leaders required.
      • Proven track record of successful organizational development initiatives and outcomes required.
      • Healthcare leadership experience preferred.
     
    • Education
      • Bachelor’s degree in organizational development, human resources, business or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
     
    • Licensure, Certification, Registration
      • Talent Development, Training or Human Resources certification preferred.
