Pathology Assistant under the supervision of a pathologist assists with preparing and dissecting surgical specimens. Prepares and selects tissue samples for analysis. Being a Pathology Assistant may record findings or sterilize equipment. Requires a bachelor's/master's degree from an accredited program. Additionally, Pathology Assistant may require certification as a pathologist assistant. Typically reports to a pathologist. To be a Pathology Assistant typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Looking for a detail oriented person with for lpn/surgical technician/medical assistant. Must be able to work at a rapid pace and acquire information quickly.
Prior experience is not required but desired. Willing to train on the job; employees who thrive are people with college preferably in the sciences.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting Surgeon with procedures, Assists with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Helping to ensure surgical procedures are performed efficiently and effectively. Preparing surgical rooms for surgery. Maintaining equipment, rooms, and supplies.
