Patient Accounts Supervisor supervises credit, collection, insurance, and billing clerks in an inpatient and/or outpatient accounting office. Coordinates activities and schedules work assignments to meet billing deadlines. Being a Patient Accounts Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Patient Accounts Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision. Position Description
Performs a variety of clerical duties included, but not limited to requesting and scanning documents, working repetitious reports, and mailing out medical records in an effort to help keep the Patient Accounting Office running smoothly. Communicates with internal and external customers, management and other employees in an effective manner to answer questions, address complaints, explain information and assist with itemized bills and medical records requests timely and efficiently.
Position Requirements
High School Diploma or GED and 1 year or more of experience in an office or healthcare environment. Proficient in the use of computers, including accounting software, database software, document management software, and Microsoft Office. Excellent organizational skills. Strong attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Requirements
Associates Degree. 2 years or more of experience in a healthcare environment. Knowledge of medical terminology.
