Position Summary The National Payroll Director is responsible for the governance, accuracy and compliance of the payroll department and operations. Primary contact for special payments and projects.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities• Primary contact for the organization’s payroll operations, payroll accounting, payroll tax filing reporting and escalated payroll issues. • Responsible for payroll reconciliations of the biweekly and semimonthly payrolls to ensure SOX controls are maintained and stable.• Coordinates special payments and adjustments and resolves payroll operations issues, and manage through process improvements.• Monitors, assists and collaborate with the payroll teams on all payroll operations. Ensures accurate processing of organizational policies and procedures. Ensures Federal and State regulations to include Canada regulations.• Maintains internal controls for the payroll operations and escalates system deficiencies. Contributes to maintaining and updating the payroll system and participates in testing, training and documentation.• Contributes to maintaining and balances tax records, provides back up support for filing timely quarterly and annual state and federal returns and annual W2 forms.• Ensure all areas of payroll are in compliance with company policy and federal/state regulations to include Canada regulations. Retain and research legal payroll matters and attend sessions to stay up to date on all payroll best practices. Ensure payroll operations remain up to date on all best practices.• Primary contact for internal and external audits.• Partner with business on changes, improvements and daily operations to ensure compliance and customer service.• Maintain strong payroll operations and ensure payroll department meet customer service SLA’s.• Manage payroll sites and ensure information is up to date.

Field of Study/Area of Experience: - 10 years of experience in payroll management and performing the complete payroll cycle, payroll tax filing (multistate) and supervisory experience.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities - Advanced Excel experience is preferred.- Must have strong communication and organizational skills. - Must have the ability to be confidential and above all give the best customer service. - Must be able to multi-task and work independently. - Accounting procedures and methods.- Strong knowledge of payroll data processing by use of in-house ERP, such as Oracle, SAP, PeopleSoft.- Strong knowledge of SAS payroll solutions, such as ADP, Ceridian, Paychex.- CPP preferred.- Member of Payroll Association preferred.
