Payroll Director directs all aspects of payroll processing operations. Establishes and oversees payroll processes and procedures for routine processing, tax reporting and internal financial requirements. Being a Payroll Director designs short-term and long-term strategies to achieve continuous improvement and efficiencies in payroll processing and delivery operations. Keeps stakeholders informed about the status of payroll laws and regulations and develops implementation plans for required changes to operations. Additionally, Payroll Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Payroll Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Payroll Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     The Director of Payroll is responsible for the accurate and timely payroll services for Lever1s payroll department. This role will work with a team of payroll processors and coordinators who are responsible to process and assist in the processing of large batch, multi state payroll as a service to our clients. This is a leadership position that works to ensure our staff is operating at a high level and in coordination with other departments. A broad knowledge of human resources and employee benefits are ideal as well as demonstrated expertise in payroll, payroll taxes and payroll systems are required. Must have 7-10 years experience in payroll management.
    Essential Job Functions:
    • Manage all assigned staff including hiring, termination, discipline, and development.
    • Provide leadership and training for the payroll team and share expertise with other departments for optimal client outcomes.
    • Serve on the company leadership team to ensure optimal outcomes for our client experience.
    • Work with HRIS software to ensure all aspects are fully functional and operational.
    • Ensure the client payroll calendar is processed within Lever1s banking timelines and client deadlines are met.
    • Respond to client inquiries when needed and bring issues to resolution.
    • Maintain payroll expertise by staying abreast of industry trends and regulations.
    • Identify opportunities for growth within the payroll department and bring new innovation to company President.
    • Conduct weekly team meetings.
    • Provide client documentation client recap emails on work provided by the payroll department.
    • Train clients on software utilization when requested.
    • Maintain department processes and procedures.
    • Oversee staff for cyber security concerns including training, testing and continue monitoring.
    • Work with the support team to ensure the payroll software is operating effectively and accurately.
    • Work in coordination with the tax team to ensure client taxes are processed accurately.
    Supervisory Responsibility:
    This position is responsible for overseeing a team of payroll professionals.
    Work Environment:
    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
