This is a remote position with an ideal base location in Louisville, KY; Dallas, TX; or Miami, FL. Internal applicants that live outside of these areas are also eligible to apply.
What the Role Is
The Director of Sales Planning, reporting directly to the VP, Sales Planning and Execution, will work closely with sales management, marketing, FP&A, and our distributor partners to make our sales and marketing teams more effective. This includes but is not limited to developing yearly sales plans and market level strategy, building and tracking budgets, management of Heaven Hill’s internal sales program process, business analysis, and ensuring compliance with Heaven Hill’s sales strategies. This position will be the leader of the Joint Business Planning process and the key point of contact for Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits (SGW&S) throughout the year.
How You Will Spend Your Time?
- Lead strategic thinking on the development and execution of sales programs in an evolving distributor and retail landscape.
- Develop and manage the sales planning process for the portfolio of brands across all selling channels.
- Responsible for the development of the yearly sales plan through collaboration with the Sales, Marketing and FP&A departments.
- Build out the specific details related to the respective brand plans, strategy and execution cycle annually.
- Ensure all brand programs and strategies are efficiently and effectively implemented by the sales organization.
- Recap, monitor, and evaluate key programs throughout the fiscal year.
- Ensure ongoing communication with field sales on new program timing and objectives.
- Develop sales planning needs across Control, National Accounts and General Market channels.
- Develop strategy for how the organization evolves the planning process across three distinct selling organizations.
- Work with Marketing and Sales Departments to develop brand execution objectives and ensure prompt, seamless communication on program wants and needs, to include POS support required.
- Work with Marketing, Sales and FP&A to establish and allocate brand budgets by market and channel.
- Ensure communication and improving processes between Sales, Operations, and Customer Service to limit OOS and delays in production and shipping.
- Ensure sales spending is within budget by coordinating with brand marketing managers.
- Analyze KPIs on all key sales execution initiatives and strategies to measure progress to performance against defined success criteria and diagnose areas of opportunity.
- Develop and manage systems to track progress against incentive programs, new product launches and barrel programs.
- Improve sales performance through development of improved processes, and methodologies.
- Compile data from different sources, analyze data and provide insights.
Who You Are…
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline.
- Minimum Eight (8) years’ work-related experience in sales, planning, and business analysis.
- Previous Distilled Spirits or Wine sales experience, financial or operational analysis, research, audit, and problem solving, with a supplier or distributor.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for promoting and selling beverage alcohol products in various sales channels.
- Excellent critical thinking skills using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Analytical skills, in particular gathering data from a wide variety of sources and presenting it in formats suitable for a wide variety of audiences.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with internal and external contacts.
- Strong organizational, time management, multitasking and project management skills.
- Must possess in-depth knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office tools and products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and ERP Systems.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Have a passion for maintaining high standards in his/her work.
- Must be a highly motivated and self-directed individual, with a focus on driving results.
- Curious and creative approach to building and maintaining effective relationships
- Experience using NABCA, SAM, RAD, Nielsen and other data sources.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
- 10 – 15 plus years’ experience in beverage alcohol supplier sales experience
- (MBA) Master’s Degree in Business
- Experience working with SGW&S.
- Advanced computer proficiency

Travel Requirements
Travel will be required 20-30% of the time.
