Polysomnographic Technician under the direction of a physician, administers various sleep studies in order to diagnose the type and extent of sleep disorders. Performs routine patient assessments, scores sleep records, documents other test results, and collects and transmits biological specimens for analysis. Being a Polysomnographic Technician typically requires an associate degree or its equivalent and certification as a Polysomnographic Technician. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. RPSGT - Polysomnographic Technician, Full Time
A sleep technologist works under the general supervision of the medical director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including sleep apnea testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care and direct patient education.
Education – High School diploma required. Associated degree in a healthcare related field preferred.
Experience – Minimum 1yr experience working in a health facility with patient contact or appropriate credentialing for the position held.
Licensure/Certification – Certified by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist "RPSGT". Licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians as a Polysomnographic Technologist. Current BLS (CPR) in compliance with policy.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities – Good communication skills. Ability to interact with all age groups. Ability to work with little supervision. Basic computer skills.
