Production Assistant assists with coordinating the production of television or web broadcasts, shows, or videos. Monitors designated schedules and timelines to ensure each phase of production stays on track. Being a Production Assistant collaborates with technical specialists and operators for each production's camera, sound, and lighting. Helps with set-up and operation of production equipment such as consoles or teleprompter, and completes any miscellaneous tasks needed for production. Additionally, Production Assistant may require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Production Assistant works under moderate supervision. SALARY RANGE: $18.00 p/hour BAND and LEVEL: UZ01
WORK SCHEDULE: Part Time, Flexible schedule, hours may vary, may require evening and weekends.
LOCATION: South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, Greenville, SC
Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required with a minimum of 2 years of experience in general stagecraft techniques.
Preferred Requirements: Graduation from an accredited school of entertainment production or a bachelor’s degree in technical theatre or a related field may be substituted for the required work experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to maintain, operate, and troubleshoot technical equipment including lighting, audio and video. Experience in programming and operating consoles (lighting and/or sound). Knowledge of basic principles and methods of stage management. Understanding of generally acceptable theater practices.
Physical Requirements: Ability to work in a physically engaging environment including ability to lift, squat, stand for extended periods, climb ladders, and work at height
SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES: The person in this position will work under the direction of the Director of Production and assist with installing and operating the lighting, props, audio, video, and rigging for theatre, dance, music, and more. Construct and assemble staging for theatre. Assist with scenic painting, costuming, repairing existing props as well as building from scratch, operate livestream video equipment, program and operate lighting console for live shows and special events, maintain inventory of lighting, audio, video, prop and staging equipment, live mixing microphones and pre-recorded sound on analog and digital consoles. Read and implement lighting plots. Understand basic lighting principles. Operate heavy equipment such as a Genie Lift. Performs other related duties as required.
