Professor - Computer Science teaches courses in the discipline area of computer and information sciences. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Computer Science provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Computer Science typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.   • Roanoke County Public Schools is currently seeking applicants for Computer Science Teacher positions for the 2024-25 school year.

    Applicants must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Virginia prior to August 2024.

    Essential Job Functions:

    1. Participate in curriculum review and design.
    2. Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
    3. Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.
    4. Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
    5. Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
    6. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
    7. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
    8. Refer students for alternative services as provided by the District (ESL, Reading, Special Reading).
    9. Effectively implement district initiatives.
    10. Effectively collaborate with department and grade level teachers.

    Other Job Functions:
    1. Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
    2. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
    3. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
    4. Serve on committees as assigned.
    5. Remain current on instructional practices in education.




    Minimum Job Requirements/Qualifications:

    Bachelor's Degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.

    A Collegiate Professional License with an endorsement at the appropriate level is required.

    Positive interpersonal and communication skills.
