Professor - Computer Science teaches courses in the discipline area of computer and information sciences. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Computer Science provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Computer Science typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.   • The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology invites applications for two one-year Visiting Assistant Professors with a focus on instruction, to begin in Fall 2024.

    Visiting Assistant Professor positions are non-tenure-track positions, hired on a one-year contract. A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field is strongly encouraged, though ABD applicants and those with relevant master’s degrees will be considered. Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education. Visiting full-time faculty teach 12 credits per semester, and will have the opportunities to teach introductory, intermediate, and advanced coursework depending on their experience and areas of interest.

    The Computer Science & Information Technology department has 8 full-time faculty members. The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology oversees programs leading to a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, and Cybersecurity; and a program leading to a Master of Science in Computer Science. The Department also offers service courses for other University programs.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • The teaching of undergraduate courses in Computer Science, Information Technology or tangential fields as required by the University and specified by the Department Chair.
    • The faculty member should carry out service duties as needed within the department.
    • Supervision of laboratory work, if appropriate.
