  • Position Description: Program Manager/Computer Science
    Position Summary:
    Primary Function: The Program Manager will provide program guidance, implementation strategies and ensure organization deliverables are met. Responsible for overseeing the delivery of our Computer Science offering. Plan, develop, oversee implementation, and supervise programs. Some programs may have specific, rigorous management and tracking requirements, including, but not limited to program implementation and delivery, daily attendance tracking, activity tracking by member, additional expense reconciliations, field trip coordination, specialty programs, reporting, and documentation etc.
    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES: (not all-inclusive)
    Prepare Youth for Success
    Plan and oversee the administration of designated Club programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes.
    Promote and stimulate program participation.
    Oversee the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals.
    Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program areas.
    Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
    Program Development and Implementation
    Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for drop-in members and visitors.
    Complete unit and lesson plans for programs and activities following the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fitchburg and Leominster standards as assigned.
    Supervision and Staff Leadership
    Ensure a productive work environment by participating in club meetings.
    Assist and support in the training of part-time staff as directed by supervisor.
    Effectively oversee by providing support, coaching and feedback, supervision, and guidance.
    Maintain high performance expectations for all team members that fosters a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and innovation.
    Key Program Expectations:
    Oversee the implementation and delivery of operations, programs, services, and activities that facilitate achievement of program outcomes.
    Assess the needs, interests, and characteristics of the youth to develop targeted programs that result in an outcome-driven club experience.
    Meet or exceed all grant requirements and deadlines for grants restricted to Club.
    The Computer Science Program Manager is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and mentorship in IT coding to students participating in the workforce development program. They facilitate career exploration, skills development, and work-based learning experiences by teaching coding languages and technologies, critical thinking skills, software development practices, and promoting ethical coding behaviors.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS: (not all inclusive)
    This position is part time, scheduled shift will be between 9:00am 6:00pm and may include weekends.
    Four-year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
    5 years of supervisory/management experience.
    A minimum of five years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience in youth delinquency and gang prevention.
    Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
    Leadership and management experience in a youth services, family support or K-12 educational setting.
    Highly positive and enthusiastic style capable of motivating others.
    Demonstrate success in designing new youth programs, facilitating experiential curriculum.
    Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to provide a strong presence.
    Excellent prioritization and critical thinking skills.
    Strong organizational and conflict resolution skills.
    Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
    Group leadership skills, including and understanding of group dynamics.
    Demonstrated organizational, staff and management deliverables.
    Knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fitchburg and Leominster; and the principles and practices of non-profit organization.
    Demonstration of ability to communicate with diverse groups. Minimum of a bachelors degree and/or applicable experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) job fields
    Demonstrated ability to work effectively with young people in a positive manner using restorative, not punitive practices.
    Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to build community partnerships.
    Demonstrated experience implementing and assessing curriculum with students.
    Proficient in block-based coding is preferred.
    Perform all additional duties and tasks assigned by leadership/supervisors.
    Highly Desirable Requirements:
    Experience as a youth development professional in the Boys & Girls Club Movement
    Experience in working with children and knowledge of youth development.
    Strong Organization, Time Management Skills, and ability to set Priorities.

    Must be comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
