Visiting Assistant Professor (Higher Education Program)

  • The Department of Leadership in Education, Higher Education Program, in the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) at the University of Massachusetts Boston seeks applicants for a non-tenure-track position as a visiting assistant professor, to begin Spring 2024. This appointment includes teaching in the Spring 2024 and Summer (June) 2024 semesters. Of particular interest are candidates with scholarly expertise and teaching agendas in higher education policy, and governance and administration in higher education.

    Faculty are responsible for teaching, advising, and service that enhance CEHD's community-engaged mission. Responsibilities include: 1) teaching graduate courses in the Leadership in Education Department, Higher Education Program, including doctoral courses on higher education policy, governance and administration in higher education, and electives aligning with the candidate's research and teaching interests; and 2) contributing service to university, college, department, and program committees, which may include working with pre-dissertation students.

    Candidates must have an earned doctorate in higher education or a related field (awarded prior to 12/31/2023) and experience or promise in research and teaching.

    The department and CEHD are especially interested in candidates with sustained engagement with communities of color. Scholars of color are strongly encouraged to apply.

    The Higher Education Doctoral Program provides a dynamic environment for faculty to conduct nationally recognized research, particularly in areas related to access, equity and justice, organizational change, international/comparative education, public policy, and community engagement. The program enrolls many full-time professionals with diverse backgrounds and work experiences. The curriculum focuses on preparing higher education leaders, researchers, and policy analysts who are committed to fostering and facilitating change in a social justice framework.
