Professor - Foreign Languages teaches courses in the discipline area of foreign languages. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Foreign Languages provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Foreign Languages typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. In-person Spanish Instructor (Boston, MA) ($125/hour)

    The Boston Medical Spanish Center (BMSC) is seeking an instructor to teach Spanish to healthcare workers with limited Spanish proficiency in the Cambridge/Somerville area of Boston. This position is ideal for individuals interested in teaching and increasing equitable access to healthcare in Boston.

    Classes will meet one morning per week, contact hours will total 2 hours per week. Instructors will be paid up to $125 per contact hour.

    Experience in teaching Spanish is required. Bonus points for experience with medical Spanish or medical interpreting.

    Responsibilities will include:

    • Creating lesson materials, adapting provided lesson materials as needed
    • Developing interactive activities and using props and other supporting materials as necessary to enhance students' classroom experience
    • Actively engaging and interacting with students during classes and activities
    • Other responsibilities such as reporting attendance, assessing student progress, and communicating with on-site partners

    This position requires candidates with the following qualifications:

    • Spanish fluency
    • Experience in Spanish education, preferably with adults
    • Experience with curriculum design
    • Ability to travel regularly to the Cambridge/Somerville area of Boston
    • A proactive, caring, positive, and energetic personality

    In addition, ideal candidates possess the following qualities:

    • A proactive work ethic and professional demeanor
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work in a collaborative setting and willingness to apply feedback
    • Comfortable with teaching in small to medium size classroom environments
