Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - History typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Wilkes University invites applicants for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of History, World History position to begin in August 2024 in the Division of Global Cultures: History, Languages, and Philosophy. The Department of History, located within the Division of Global Cultures, prides itself in our commitment to undergraduate teaching as well as maintaining a rigorous research and scholarship profile.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a 4/4 teaching load including survey courses in Modern World History as well as upper-level courses in their field of expertise. While candidates with specialization in any World History field will be considered, particular preference will be given to those with a focus on Africa and/or the African Diaspora. Ability to teach the first half of US History survey is a plus. A Ph.D. in History (in hand by August 2024) is preferred. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in teaching undergraduate courses. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
