Assistant/Associate/Full Professor - Mechanical and Industrial Engineering - Supply Chain Resilience

  • About the Opportunity The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) seeks applications for open-rank, tenured or tenure-track Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor faculty candidates with research interests broadly in the area of supply chain resilience. Appointments will be primarily or fully in MIE. This position has potential for both joint cross-department appointments and joint cross-college appointments in the College of Science, Khoury College of Computer Science, College of Social Sciences and Humanities, College of Arts Media and Design, Bouvé College of Health Sciences, and D’Amore-McKim School of Business. We are seeking faculty candidates with research interests and expertise on any of a set of broadly defined areas relevant to supply chain resilience, including but not limited to: Supply chain modeling and optimization AI/data science methodologies for supply chain problems Sustainability Design and operations of socio-technical systems Mitigating risks, preparing, and responding to disruptions in networked systems Discrete, dynamic and stochastic optimization Quantitative and analytical methods for policy and regulation Responsibilities The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering seeks individuals who will develop vigorous research programs cross-cutting the fields of engineering and/or science. Faculty members at Northeastern teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate level; mentor students and postdocs in their area of research; and participate in service to the department, university, and discipline. Candidates are expected to develop independent research programs that attract external funding and generate vigorous research programs cross-cutting industrial engineering, operations research, supply chain engineering, data analytics among others.
