Professor - Mathematics teaches courses in the discipline area of mathematics and statistics. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Mathematics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Mathematics typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.   • WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR 
    The Baylor Mathematics Department is seeking an organized, collaborative candidate for the Office Manager position. The Office Manager will directly support the Department Chair and supervise the Administrative Associate and Student Workers. In addition, this position will work with the Graduate Program Director on matters related to the graduate students and graduate program and will maintain the Mathematics Department’s external communications. 

    This position is also responsible for coordinating travel (as needed for faculty, graduate students, visitors, and candidates interviewing for faculty positions), event planning, and submitting hiring paperwork for temporary lecturers, among other things.

    A high school diploma, three years of relevant experience, and an active Christian Faith are required. A bachelor’s degree, five years of relevant experience, and an active Christian Faith are preferred. 

    Applications must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO
    Individual Tasks –

    • Assists with correspondence and maintains calendar and appointments.
    • Develops and maintains a working knowledge of applicable University tools and systems.
    • Maintains accurate inventory records and confidential files. 
    • Co-manages various special projects and initiatives.
    • Creates purchase orders for office supplies, including t-shirt orders.
    • Enters tuition and stipend information for Grad School submittal.
    • Assists in tasks for Graduate Program Director, including course degree petitions and assisting in graduate students’ add/drop course schedules, and new student applications.
    • Tracks annual memberships with various professional organizations.
    • Creates news stories and assists with the newsletters.
    • Coordinates offices/computers for current and new faculty and graduate students.
    • Monitors payroll, timecard, and labor distribution reports for possible discrepancies and corrections.
    • Collaborates to plan department activities such as lunches, awards, department events, conferences, large scale projects such as remodeling, summer maintenance.
    • Conducts ad placements on various job boards, Interfolio actions, assists with candidate interview schedules, and submits hiring paperwork for temporary lecturers.
    • Oversees P-card purchases for Math department, and submits timely, organized expense reports.
    • Supervises Student Assistants and Undergraduate Program Coordinator.
    • Coordinates travel, as requested for faculty, graduate students, and visitors. 
    • Performs all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission. 
    • Ability to comply with university policies.
    • Maintains regular and punctual attendance.

    Shared Tasks –

    • Keeps office supplies stocked, printer and copier stocked with paper, and submits work orders.
    • Sets up refreshments for in person colloquiums.
    • Checks mail daily, sorts, and delivers mail to faculty/student mailboxes.
    • Updates Math Department’s website.
    • Signs for OALA exams; notifies instructor of receipt and places in faculty mailbox.
    • Reserves conference / classrooms in system (Astra), as needed.
