Professor - Music teaches courses in the discipline area of music. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Music provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Music typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

    The Division of Music has an enrollment of more than 275 music majors. Degrees available

    include: BM in music education, BM in performance; BA in liberal arts; BS in music therapy; MM in music education, performance, and instrumental, piano, and vocal

    pedagogy; and MMT in music therapy.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    The successful candidate will teach applied lessons on their primary instrument, participate in recruiting for the Division of Music, conduct ensembles, provide other forms of support within the band program, and teach additional courses in the music curriculum.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    * PhD or DMA in Music

    * Teaching experience at the collegiate level

    * Evidence of successful conducting experience with university-level ensembles

    POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES

    * Teach applied lessons on primary instrument

    * Teach courses in the music curriculum (may include brass techniques, pedagogy, and ensemble coaching)

    * Actively recruit and retain students for the Division of Music

    * Engage in outreach activities to promote the Division of Music within the university and the broader community

    * Conduct ensembles according to area(s) of expertise and provide other forms of support within the band program

    * Maintain an agenda of research and creative activity that enhances the Division of Music's standing and increases its visibility

    * Engage in divisional and university service, including participation in faculty meetings, committees, academic advising, and events that contribute to the growth and success of the Division of Music
