Professor - Nursing teaches courses in the discipline area of nursing. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Nursing provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Nursing typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Duties:

    The successful candidate(s) will provide educational instruction and intervention within the classroom, clinical and simulation lab settings and will be expected to participate in curriculum development and assessment of learning outcomes. Additional responsibilities could include, but are not limited to, holding regular office hours, student recruitment, advising and committee work as assigned.

    All candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Nursing or be currently enrolled in a Master’s of Nursing program, and have an unencumbered license as a registered nurse or have the ability to obtain by August 15, 2024.

    Candidates seeking the rank of Associate professor must have a minimum of 4 years of experience in an academic teaching environment, and demonstrate nursing scholarship such as research experience, presentations at professional conferences and/or publications.

    Required Qualifications:

    Assistant Professor:
     
    • Master’s degree in Nursing or current enrollment in a Master’s of Nursing program
    • Current unencumbered license as a registered nurse or advanced practice nurse in the state of Montana or ability to obtain by August 15, 2024
    • 2-3 years of nursing experience and demonstrated ability to perform at a high level
    • Evidence of strong written and oral communication skills

    Associate Professor:
     
    • Master’s degree in Nursing or current enrollment in a Master’s of Nursing program
    • Current unencumbered license as a registered nurse or advanced practice nurse in the state of Montana or ability to obtain by August 15, 2024
    • 2-3 years of nursing experience and demonstrated ability to perform at a high level
    • Evidence of strong written and oral communication skills -
    • Minimum of 4 years of experience in an academic teaching environment, 
    • Demonstrate nursing scholarship such as research experience, presentations at professional conferences and/or publications.

    Preferred Qualifications:
     
    • Doctoral degree (PhD, DNP, EdD) preferred
    • Prior classroom and/or clinical teaching experience at the collegiate level
    • Evidence of scholarly activity
    • Experience in simulation education
    • 2-3 years of acute care experience
