Professor - Nursing teaches courses in the discipline area of nursing. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Nursing provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Nursing typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.   • The Part-time Faculty of Nursing at Carthage College are responsible for didactic and clinical teaching in the department's nursing programs.


    Duties:

    1. Assists nursing leadership in implementing the nursing curriculum, ensuring relevant and cutting-edge content.
    2. Teaches courses as negotiated with nursing leadership.
    3. Makes recommendations to the team that support and enhance quality learning experiences for nursing students.
    4. Establishes or maintains an area of scholarly expertise and maintains area of clinical competence.
    5. Through day to day clinical activities with community partnerships maintain relationships that are consistent with, support, and advance the College and department's mission.
    6. Additional relevant duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    1. Master's degree in nursing required.
    2. Holds a valid, unencumbered license to practice professional nursing in the state of Wisconsin, or eligible to obtain a Wisconsin license.
    3. Experience in teaching in a pre-licensure nursing program, or course work in nursing education principles and techniques.
    4. Knowledge of teaching-learning principles.
    5. Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
    6. Evidence of current clinical expertise.
