Professor - Sociology teaches courses in the discipline area of sociology. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Sociology provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Sociology typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Adjunct Professor- Sociology

  • Teaches Introduction to Sociology (SOC 101) courses to MTC students, including dual enrollment students. Courses may be delivered in-person at a high school location, at our Beltline Campus, Airport campus, or one of the other MTC campuses, synchronously online (virtually through Zoom or Microsoft Teams), or asynchronously online (through D2L Bright Space). The course and, by extension, the instructor are under the purview of MTC and the supervision of the appropriate MTC Department Chair/Program Director. The instructor is expected to comply with all MTC policies and procedures. The course(s) should contain the required student learning outcomes, along with assessment and evaluation of those outcomes and instructional effectiveness.

    This position is located on various campuses in the Social and Behavioral Sciences department.
     Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Sociology. Ability to teach during daytime hours.Master's degree or higher in Sociology.  High school teachers at participating high schools who desire to teach MTC courses must be vetted by the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at MTC.  College and/or high school teaching experience and two years work experience.
