Position Summary:
Under general direction of the Supply Chain Manager, the Project Administrator is predominantly fulfilling the role of PDM Coordinator while supporting on an ad hoc basis project based tasks for multiple internal departments, including but not limited to engineering, supply chain and production. Integrity of the data maintenance and supplier performance meeting production schedules will be key to the success of this role.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Work closely with engineering, materials and manufacturing to document engineering designs, procurement procedures, manufacturing methods, material routing and handling methods.
- Document work production standards for fabrication, paint and assembly, and components and assemblies.
- Process Engineering Change Requests.
- Create and change work orders for missing components.
- Research and resolve inconsistent and inaccurate information as it relates to the bill of materials (BOMs), routings and drawings.
- Document and participate in JD Edwards routing changes for production issues and confer with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
- Support manufacturing engineering and LEAN initiatives. Revise BOMs, routings, drawings in alignment with new and/or improved manufacturing processes.
- Participate in the initial phases of new product development to assist with Bill of Material structure while keeping materials, engineering, accounting and service in mind.
- Process all necessary documentation and maintain records of studies and recommendations for improvements.
- Create standard operating procedures and document the product data management role.
- Participate in meetings, including production and engineering as needed.
- Place purchase orders using JDE action screens.
- Expedite Purchase orders, as needed, to meet production and customer requirements.
- Process invoice issues using TCC software.
- Coordinate special projects as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, suppliers and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions while working with the different departments.
- Requires the ability to operate general office equipment.
- General understanding of welding, fabrication, machining, and assembly techniques and processes.
- Basic mechanical aptitude/ability.
- Strong computer skills and aptitude. Proficient user of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook. JD Edwards experience preferred, Solid Works (preferred), AutoCAD, and Access (preferred).
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Able to work independently and with a high degree of accuracy for reporting purposes.
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of three years of experience in a related position in a manufacturing work environment.
- Associate's degree preferred; with an emphasis in engineering or industrial technology or equivalent area of study.
- Previous experience working with engineering drawings and document controls.
Working Conditions:
- This position will generally work in an office environment with frequent sitting for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally may be exposed to the manufacturing environment including noise and outdoor environment.
- Occasionally while performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand; use hands to handle or touch objects, keyboarding tools, or controls; and talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Use of vision, hearing, keyboarding, and verbal communication is required.
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment including steel toe shoes, safety glasses/goggles and hearing protection.
