Project Engineering Manager plans and directs all design engineers, drafters, and technical engineers working on specific projects. Manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex designs. Being a Project Engineering Manager oversees product construction and testing in order to ensure completion of projects as efficiently and effectively as possible. Evaluates and approves changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, or schedule of a project. Additionally, Project Engineering Manager monitors progress and performance against the project plan. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Project Engineering Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Civil Engineering Project Manager - Water: Billings, MT

The Project Manager will be responsible for the performance of project team members and will work closely with team members to provide high-quality deliverables on time and on budget to AE2S clients.


    Responsibilities

    • Provide professional services for water engineering projects to include planning, study, design, and construction administration on projects
    • Manage performance of assigned project team members including Project Engineers, Junior Engineers, and Technicians
    • Maintain existing client relationships and enhance pursued relationships with clients
    • Identify, evaluate, pursue, and manage project opportunities
    • Provide quality control and quality assurance on all project work
    • Maintain budgets and schedules of project assignments
    • Coordinate, facilitate, and attend internal and external meetings
    • Provide mentorship for team members.


    Basic Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
    • Registration as a Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 6 months
    • 4 years of experience in municipal civil engineering, with a strong interest in the water market sector (Drinking Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, Water Resources)
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to travel as required for project/client responsibilities and business development
    • Ability to work remotely and manage projects, clients, and project team members
    • Knowledge of design standards and permitting

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering
    • 8 years of experience in municipal water engineering (Drinking Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, Water Resources)
    • Project management experience
    • Knowledge of project financials & funding programs

    • Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.

    • May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload
    • May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town
