Job Summary: Responsible for copyediting, proofreading, and modifying content for program, research, and marketing materials produced by various teams. Review program manuals, guidance documents, research reports, presentations, marketing and advertising materials, website, and other materials in print and electronic format to ensure text is grammatically correct, readable, and corresponds with Wilson’s brand image and target audience.

Essential Job Functions

• Copyedits print and electronic materials and communications to improve the effectiveness of written content.
• Works under deadlines to meet communication goals.
• Supports development of program materials, including teacher manuals, student readers, and other teacher and student materials through copyediting to improve the flow of the text while maintaining integrity of the message and ensuring grammatical accuracy.
• Supports development of external and internal communications in print and electronic form, such as marketing materials, website, and internal memos through copyediting to improve the flow of the text while maintaining integrity of the message and ensuring grammatical accuracy
• Supports development of research reports and case students through copyediting to improve the flow of the text while maintaining integrity of the message and ensuring grammatical accuracy.
• Works with author(s)/writer(s) to improve written text and presentations.
• Maintains Wilson’s style guide to support uniform usage rules across the company.
• Utilizes Wilson’s style guide and APA manual to determine formatting, word usage, etc. of text.
• Communicates text in way that demonstrates and understanding of Wilson’s offerings and brand image/voice.
• Researches and fact-checks details to ensure accuracy of text.
• Makes recommendations to manager and author for revisions.
• Proofreads and edits text at various stages of the writing process.
• Drafts new text for resources and communications as requested.
• Works on special projects as requested.

Minimum Requirements:

• Excellent written communication skills in English.
• Excellent proofreading skills, to include punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
• Ability to synthesize detail-oriented information and communicate it back clearly.
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a wide variety of individuals both inside and outside of the organization.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
• Proficiency with APA style.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, PPT, Teams)
• Basic knowledge of publishing guidelines around plagiarism, copyright, and libel.
• Experience with curriculum a plus

 Education

• B.A. Degree in English, journalism, or equivalent experience preferred.

Experience

• A minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Previous writing and proofreading experience required.
