As we continue to grow, we are looking to add a Design Engineer Manager to our team. Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, the Design Engineer Manager will play an integral role in helping mentor and train our Design Engineers as well as foster a culture of continuous improvement. The Opportunity

• Manage and develop a team of designers providing leadership, training, and coaching 
• Coordinate with Sales and Project Managers to verify schedule and design requirements
• Conduct site surveys and train team members on proper site survey process
• Perform field checks and site visits as needed
• Create departmental SOP's 
• Participate in turnover meetings, lead design meetings, and weekly POJ meetings 
• Review preliminary layouts and calculations of Designers
• Coordinate with QA/QC on reviewing Designers final design layout, calculations and fabrication sheets/material stock requisitions

Qualifications 

• Associated degree in Fire Protection Design preferred and/or 5 years of experience in Design and Engineering 
• Minimum of 2 years of leadership/management experience is required 
• Ability to read and interpret documents, such as codes, standards, specifications, architectural and structural drawings, safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions 
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite, AutoCAD, AutoSprink, Hydra CAD, and other industry software
• NICET certifications preferred
• Strong working knowledge interpreting and applying applicable local AHJ as well as NFPA standards and Building codes 
  
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
