Public School Teacher prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic needs of children in a K-12 classroom setting. Being a Public School Teacher evaluates and monitors student's performance. Assesses and documents students' progress. Additionally, Public School Teacher participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require specific state-level teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Public School Teacher occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     POSITION SUMMARY
    : Pending student enrollment, the following is a listing of tentative high school summer school teacher vacancies. High School Summer School will begin on July 08, 2024, and run through August 1, 2024. High School Summer School will take place at the Career & Technology Academy. Classes will be in session from 7:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. or 11:45 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.


    • English: Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12
    • Mathematics: Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra II, Advanced Mathematics, Statistics, Pre-Calculus
    • Science: Biology, Matter and Energy, Chemistry, Earth Science
    • Social Studies: Modern World History, United States History, and American Government


    Online High School Summer School will begin on June 24, 2024, and run through August 1, 2024. Online High School Summer School will have required face-to-face meetings, locations, dates, and times, to be determined.

    • Foundations of Computer Science
    • Health I and II
    • Spanish I and II
    • Music Appreciation


    General Education and Special Education position availability is contingent on student enrollment.

    References must be directly related to educational experience and must include immediate supervisor.


    State law requires that anyone hired after October 1, 1986, who will have contact with school children, must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation. Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.
