  • Description: Under the supervision of the COO the Director of Quality Improvement is focused on primary care and behavioral health service quality. The ideal candidate is an accessible and visible leader who provides direction and oversight to quality improvement activities, supports practice management, conducts internal investigations, and monitors performance organization-wide. The Director of Quality Improvement works closely with clinical and administrative managers, supervisors, staff, and partner organizations to improve overall patient safety and systems-level outcomes.
     
    Position Duties:
    • Leads JAMHI accreditation preparation efforts including understanding and interpreting standards, training and supporting staff to practice consistent with standards, preparation, coordinating and facilitation of accreditation surveys and ensuring continuous survey readiness across the organization.  
    • Focuses on better healthcare value and quality, including the improvement of clinical outcomes, patient experience, patient safety, productivity, efficiency, employee and physician satisfaction, and process reliability.
    • Analyzes all areas for improvement opportunities and makes applicable recommendations for process, system, procedure, and operational changes to improve healthcare value and quality
    • Responsible for extracting and collecting data and presenting that information to a variety of audiences
    • Prepares reports and compiles statistics to translate into information to help guide company in decision-making
    • Ensures the continuous collection, analysis, discussion, and learning from input from persons served, personnel, and other community stakeholders 
    • Coordinates solutions and responds respectfully to non-personnel related complaints and grievances
    • Works closely with Clinical and Non-Clinical teams to improve key performance indicators, designing processes for new initiatives and services.
    • Maintains a working knowledge of HRSA and SAMSHA standards and regulatory guidelines
    • Collaborates with HR and various departments to ensure quality measures are embedded into company policy and procedures 
    • Acts as lead for all required certification, application and reporting processes
    • Collaborates with the Alaska Division of Behavioral Health (DBH), SAMHSA and others as needed.
    • Ensures quality by managing and maintaining the organization’s credentialing and privileging process for all providers.
    • Whole-hearted commitment to the value, principles, and practices of integrated, whole-person health care delivery systems that include mental health, substance use disorder, physical health care, and wellness in service to the community and to people and families across their lifespan.
    • Knowledge and awareness of diversity, commitment to equity, and strong cultural competency skills.
    • A clear commitment to leadership and continuous improvement of a positive organizational culture and an engaged and skilled workforce.
    • Knowledge of current research, trends, and issues in continuous quality improvement, evidence based, emerging and best practices, risk management and safety in community service settings.
    • Performs administrative and other duties as assigned that may not be directly within the scope of this position.
    • Oversight of the data capture and reporting processes to ensure compliance with FQHC Uniform Data System requirements and timely submission of such data to HRSA
    Minimum Qualifications:
    All JAMHI positions require the ability to pass a criminal background check in accordance with the current state regulation requirements and a valid Alaska driver’s license and be able to clear the JAMHI auto insurance screening through the independent insurance carrier and/or if driving.
    • Bachelor’s degree with a preference in a Behavioral Health or Medical specialty, or healthcare administration. Other degrees will be considered with direct, relevant experience.
    • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
    • 3-5 years’ experience in quality assurance, project management, contract and standards monitoring, and data collection and analysis.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Active CPHQ Certification
    • Medical Staffing Professional
    • Experience in integrated care setting
    Knowledge and Skills Required:
    • Experience in quality improvement in any field
    • Experience in compiling, organizing, analyzing, and presenting data in an easy-to-understand manner
    • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of tools including Excel, Word, and Outlook
    • Ability to maintain information confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
