Records Manager develops and manages the company records department and information management programs. Responsible for overseeing the storage, backup, maintenance, reproduction, protection, and disposition of all records. Being a Records Manager evaluates and recommends media formats and storage requirements to be used for records/information. Ensures that processes and policies that comply with all regulatory requirements for record retention are followed. Additionally, Records Manager designs and implements systems and processes to protect and secure critical records and information. Requires a bachelor's degree. The Public Records Manager’s, also designated Public Records Officer under RCW 42.56, primary duties include managing STA’s digital and physical records, responding to public records requests on behalf of STA, ensuring compliance with the Washington State Public Records Act, State Retention Schedules, ensuring coordination among STA departments in gathering responsive records, and the organization and classification of the agency’s digital and physical records, including retention, archival, tracking, retrieval, and destruction. This position also provides guidance to STA Chiefs and employees regarding general records management and public records fulfillment.

Examples of Duties
Education and Experience
Bachelors’ degree in business, records management, or related field; and minimum three years of experience overseeing public records management and as a Public Records Officer for a public agency; OR any equivalent combination of experience and education is required. Lead role and/or supervisor experience required. Existing certification in the Washington State Public Records Act under RCW 42.56 and/or Records Retention under RCW 40.14 preferred.
