Regional Claims Manager manages the operations of an insurance claims department to meet operational, financial, and service requirements. Oversees the intake and processing of insurance claims for personal, property, or casualty loss based on coverage, appraisal, and verifiable damage. Being a Regional Claims Manager manages appraisal and examination staff and processes. Assures timely and proper disposition of claims based on policy provisions. Additionally, Regional Claims Manager recommends and implements best practices to ensure complete and thorough claim settlements, legal reviews, and investigations following company policies and insurance industry regulations. Determines the value of settlements for escalated claims. Manages negotiations of settlements and administration of claims in litigation. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Regional Claims Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     Responsibilities

    Carolina Casualty Insurance company is looking for an experienced Commercial Bodily Injury Claims Manager.  The Commercial Bodily Injury Claims Manager is responsible for providing leadership and expertise to a team of bodily injury/liability claims adjusters. This position will also help answer coverage questions and solve problems, develop technical training and development plans, work with our customers to provide an excellent customer experience, and participate in projects to help the department improve and evolve.     • Shape the future strategy of the department as part of the claims leadership team.
    • Monitors workload assignments for commercial bodily injury claims personnel
    • Recommends staffing plans to the AVP – Claims and participates in the hiring of new commercial bodily injury claims personnel based on business needs
    • Knowledge of evaluating injury exposures
    • Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment and tolerate stress
    • Demonstrated success exercising independent decision making, problem solving and effective negotiation skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Work with the claims adjusters to solve problems and get the best outcomes of the claim.
    • Collaborate with other departments, including actuary and underwriting, individual claims, Best Practices and trends.
    • Develop the team’s expertise in claim handling procedures in accordance with Best Practices.
    • Manage the department’s inventory of claims to include:
      • Ensuring team conducts thorough investigations to determine coverage and liability
      • Ensuring proper reserves are set for exposures to the Company
      • Ensuring appropriate evaluation, negotiation, and settlement claims within authority levels.
      • Ensuring Identification and pursuit of recovery opportunities (salvage, subrogation, etc.).
      • Ensuring appropriate and thorough litigation process
    • Develop team in negotiation and settlement skills.
    • Conduct research on industry trends and keeping apprised of laws in Federal, State and Local jurisdictions.
    • Develop training programs and procedures, and conduct department-specific training.
    • Review and streamline claims processes, including automating tasks as needed.
    • Work with direct reports on career development and aspirations.
    • Conduct performance reviews and give constructive and positive feedback to direct reports.
    • Recruit and retain team members to the claim’s organization.
    • Speak with customers when added expertise is needed or issues arise that need extra assistance.
    • Serve as a point of contact and knowledge source for all internal departments, and for our clients.
    • Ensure the claim team maintains a high level of Customer Service to customers. Ability to step in to manage individual claims if needed or to gain a better understanding of processes.

     

    Qualifications

     

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • 8 years of commercial auto/bodily injury claim experience
    • 1 years management experience
