Data and Analytics is a critical team within Business Technology. Our mission is to enable integrated data layers for all of Samsara and Samsara customers with the insights, tools, infrastructure and consultation to make data driven decisions. We are a growing team that loves all things data! The team will be composed of data engineers, architects, analysts and data scientists. We are passionate about leveraging world class data and analytics to deliver a great customer experience. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.

This role is open to candidates residing in the US except the San Francisco Bay Area (125 mi. radius from 1 De Haro St, San Francisco) and NYC Metro Area (50 mi. radius from 131 W 55th St, New York).

In this role, you will:
- Manage risks and resolve challenges that impact release scope, quality, and schedules
- Plan release windows and cycles across portfolios and components
- Manage relationships working on interrelated processes
- Communicate crucial release plans and changes
- Measure and monitor progress to achieve a timely software release within defined budgetary limits and defined quality standards
- Coordinate processes between different teams (possibly in various locations)
- Communicate necessary release details to business teams
- Manage, plan, and negotiate release activities
- Initiate and oversee progressive release processes
- Coordinate enterprise release content and efforts based on OS updates and third-party apps
- Produce deployment, implementation, and run books plans
- Conduct release readiness and milestone reviews
- Maintain release schedules for every core service and ensure it aligns with major vendors and other stakeholders
- Work with release engineers to comprehend code merges and branch ramifications
- Lead and coordinate checklist and deployment plan execution
- Develop automation and release management tools along with scripts necessary for the construction, continuous integration, and deployment of software release
- Research new software development and the best methods and techniques for managing configurations regarding a business’s existing needs
- Ensure that releases operate as per expectations
- Ensure that requirements are clear across dependent project streams with an effective release
- Initiate and oversee the development of technical guides and training for external functionality
- Manage the development of deliverables into production environments
- Validate release notes
- Deploy management of deliverables to the test environment particularly guaranteeing that the external dependent items are available during the test runtime

Minimum requirements for the role:
- A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data engineering, data science, information technology, or equivalent engineering program
- 5 years of work experience as a data engineer or software engineer, including 3 years of experience in managing release teams, cross-functional releases and organizational communication
- Experience with modern cloud-based data-lake and data-warehousing technology stacks, and familiarity with typical data-engineering tools, data products, ETL/ELT, ERP, Salesforce and data-warehousing processes, environment strategy and best practices
- Excellent programming skills and understanding of software development lifecycle
- Ability to handle software infrastructure management & configuration management
- Strong experience in using project or release management tools
- Experience in coordinating cross-functional work teams up to task completion
