The Argus Observer and Independent-Enterprise has an opening for a full-time talented journalist to join our community news team. Our focus is on what is happening in the Western Treasure Valley region. Our news team covers governing bodies, education and sports, economics and agriculture, as well as lifestyle and human interest stories. Our community reporters also contribute to our online newsletter and specialty publications.

The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, and will be flexible, needing to balance assignments and deadlines, having a keen sense of knowledge when it comes to enterprise stories and urgency for timely news. The successful candidate also will have an eye for visual storytelling, and be comfortable using a digital camera to offer a variety of photo choices with assignments.

Candidates should also be familiar with social media. In addition to our twice-weekly print publication, we push news out around the clock with a variety of online platforms, including our website, social media pages and app. Schedule will vary according to workload; evening work is often required with an occasional weekend assignment.

A journalism or communication degree or at least four years of experience in a newsroom is preferred. We will consider candidates with equivalent experience.
