Academic Coaching Specialist
Coastal Carolina University seeks applications for the position of
Academic Coaching Specialist for the Coastal Student Success Center.
The Academic Coaching Experience Department is housed within the Coastal Student Success Center, which also includes the Math Learning Center, the Writing Center, and proactive and reactive programs for primarily first-year students. Each program within the CSSC is specifically designed to meet the varied needs of students and contribute to overall student retention, matriculation, and meeting the goals and objectives of the Coastal Carolina University Strategic Plan and Quality Enhancement Plan. The Academic Coaching Experience Department administers the Student Opportunity for Academic Recovery program and the early alert system, and the staff enhance student success by offering services that include one-on-one academic coaching, academic skill courses, developmental workshops, and referrals to campus resources. Though some work takes place independently, the staff also works together as a team.
Duties include, but are not limited to:-
Manage a caseload of students within retention programs;
- Teach sections of an academic support course based on need;
- Maintain a strong understanding of and utilize success coaching concepts;
- Maintain documentation of student interactions;
- Conduct and document outreach to students who receive academic alerts;
- Refer students to appropriate campus resources;
- Assist the Director and Assistant Director of the department with special projects that contribute to institutional retention goals.
Requirements: A bachelor's degree in counseling, education, or any academic discipline that CCU offers in the core curriculum and previous experience working in education and academic coaching at the university level is required. Familiarity with CCU's probation policy, provisionary admission programs, and early alert system is also required. A master's degree in counseling, education, or any academic discipline that CCU offers in the core curriculum and experience working with students who are academically at-risk and diverse student populations is preferred.

SC State Pay Band: 05. Salary range: $37,860.00 (minimum) - $53,957.00 (midpoint). Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Friday, 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in counseling, education, or any academic discipline that CCU offers in the core curriculum. Previous experience working in education and academic coaching at the university level is required. Familiarity with CCU's probation policy, provisionary admission programs, and early alert system.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Effective written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and contribute to a team environment, while effectively managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Demonstrated commitment to a diverse, non-traditional, first-generation student population is preferred.
