Equity Residential, an S&P 500 real estate company, is in search of a resourceful, efficient, detail-oriented financial professional and team player to join our Augusta, GA Accounting team in our Corporate Office  as an Accounts Payable Supervisor. 

This position is responsible for managing and maintaining the overall function of A/P processing, A/P Assistants & A/P Coordinator, recommending and executing system enhancements, suggesting and creating process improvements, maintaining all process documentation, and completing special projects as assigned by Accounting Manager, Accounting Director or Assistant Controller.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Oversee A/P Function, with a strong emphasis on compliance, metrics, and    review. Also responsible for overseeing monthly recurring payables
• Point of contact for all monthly recurring payables (approx 150-200 monthly). This includes clarification on contract and payment terms, as well as recurring vendor set up. 
• Regular review and auditing of monthly payables, ensuring the highest level of quality and accuracy. Escalate questions to Corporate Procurement or back to Community Manager when necessary. 
• Approves ACH payment files.
• Maintains all department manuals.
• Monitor credit card payment processes to include approving payment files, managing payment expirations and vendor follow ups.
• Ensures stop payments and check reversals are completed timely.
• Ensures that all necessary payable files are processed for the end of the month.
• Controls and monitors check room and accounts payable supplies.
• Oversees the daily auditing of OPS transmissions.
• Investigates escalated problems associated with vendor payments.
• Research and reconcile vendor and internal customer issues.
• Supervises A/P staff, including hiring, evaluating, counseling, training and mentoring. 
• Assist coworkers and management in special projects and duties as needed.
• Keeps up-to-date on policies, procedures/principles and EQR system applications.

REQUIREMENTS:  

• High school diploma and an Associates or Bachelors Degree with an Accounting focus preferred. 
• Must have at least 5 years of prior experience in Accounts Payable, with experience managing people. 
• Must have strong organizational skills, work independently while meeting deadlines, good communication skills, good grammar and spelling skills, be detail-oriented and have the ability to interact with internal and external people on a professional level. 
• Must be able to prepare correspondence utilizing Microsoft Word and an advanced knowledge of MS Excel. Must have computer systems knowledge and proficiency to adjust to changes and proactively manage and recommend system enhancements. Previous experience working with Google Apps a plus.
