Shift Requirements: 40-hour weeks, with travel, overnights. Flexible schedule available.
As a Right of Way Agent 2, you are considered a journey level agent with support provided from higher level agents, the Production Coordinator and/or the Acquisition/Relocation Supervisor. Performing under minimal supervision you will negotiate agreements for the purchase of property rights necessary for highway projects with owners, tenants and/or their representatives. You will read and explain or interpret construction plans and appraisals to the property owner. Presents relocation offers and you must be prepared to discuss the purpose and amount of that offer. This offer is in addition to the written acquisition offer which is also explained to the property owner.
Under minimal supervision you will determine, calculate, and address the eligibility and appropriate level of benefits for displaced persons through interviews considering present occupancy, family composition, and employment/financial situation. Develop the level of available relocation benefits in compliance with state and federal requirements. Document contacts and discussions through clear and concise reports, and assemble orderly files containing accurate, completed, signed paperwork, that is organized in the files when the file or claim forms are submitted for processing. Ensure all necessary paperwork is accurate, completed, and present in the file so all claims may be processed. Other duties include, but are not limited to:
- Travel the State of Iowa based on a schedule that you help create
- Negotiate non-voluntary (Eminent Domain) real estate transactions for Highway improvement projects
- Work with individuals who are displaced by improvement projects through the Relocation Assistance program
- Ability to work with individuals of all race and socioeconomic class
- Be able to think outside the box to find the best solution for the Iowa public
