Being a Right of Way Agent handles all land related legal issues, including transfers of titles and deeds, construction, mortgage concerns, and zoning. Prepares resolutions and other legal forms related to land acquisitions. Additionally, Right of Way Agent may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Right of Way Agent contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. The selected candidate will have the flexibility to work out of their home office but must reside within a 50-mile radius of Raleigh, NC and be able to travel locally or throughout the assigned region about 25% of the time.

    What you will be doing:
    As a Right of Way Agent, you will be acquiring easements for electric distribution projects throughout North Carolina. You will be responsible for preparing real estate documents, performing property research, ensuring compliance, serving as a mentor to other agents and providing administrative support.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Minimum of one (1) year of Right of Way acquisition experience
    • Active North Carolina Real Estate license
    • License must be hung with ORC*
    • Active North Carolina Notary
    • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, Outlook, and Dropbox
    • Must have an iOS or Android smartphone to be able to access ORC's systems
    • Valid Driver’s License

    Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to clearly communicate and exchange information in person, via phone and email. Substantial repetitive movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers due to high computer usage and typing. Expected to spend long spans of time in front of a computer screen. Able to read, understand and interpret department related documents and data. The employee is required to move about inside the office to access files, office equipment and to interact with other members of the staff. This role requires the employee to occasionally travel to meet with clients or vendors which involves time driving; sometimes for long durations. While meeting with clients and vendors, will need to be outdoors traversing different types of landscapes. May be exposed to the elements (heat, rain, snow, cold).
