On Site Event Manager

Reports to: General Manager

Description: The event manager is the most integral piece of event-site production. Many steps have been taken before the day of the event to produce a successful event, but when the day of the event arrives, it is the event manager that ensures that all goes off without a hitch. The event manager wears many hats and will be tasked with managing people, timelines, third-party vendors, event and station setup, and more.

The event manager's primary focus should be the successful production of the event and the satisfaction of the client.

Company Expectations: Southern Way Catering expects this individual to successfully execute all duties and responsibilities asked of him/her. This person should have the ability to effectively interface with associates as well as help manage and direct event staff.

Key Responsibilities to include:

• Checking the google sign-up sheet daily/weekly about your schedule
• Making a plan BEFORE the event takes place. The event manager should assign event duties like manning/maintaining stations, walking floor and cleaning/gathering trash, passing food items, etc.
• Manage and direct event staff in a manner that is both respectful and efficient
• Facilitate floor plans and displays as needed for setup of event, such as but not limited to: pieces/parts/displays
• If staff have any questions about their duties, make sure they are answered before the event starts
• Manage onsite staff for each event and ensure that all staff are accounted for
• Effectively communicate and coordinate with event cooks, kitchen managers, logistics staff or logistics manager during the setup and operation of the event
• Effectively communicate and interact with vendors, guests, venue personnel, security staff, and others
• Effectively handling issues that will arise. Be prepared to deal with any number of issues that can emerge, including food/item shortage, staff issues, venue issues, and any other number of potential extraneous variables
• Communicate and coordinate with Sales Reps regarding any questions you may have about an event
• Communicate and coordinate with HR/Staffing Coordinator on a weekly basis
• Properly pack food for transporting to events and ensure you have everything for the event before leaving. Upon returning to the office, unload food and food related items from each event into its designated area
• Attend tastings and or site visits as needed by Sales Reps.
• Anything additional deemed necessary by management

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• Night shift
• Weekends as needed

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Restaurant Experience: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Preferred)
