Safety Representative jobs in California
Safety Representative outlines and implements training programs to educate and inform workforce on work safety, environmental safety, and accident prevention regulations and procedures. Develops and distributes educational materials including videos, guides, and posters. Being a Safety Representative tracks and documents accidents to understand causes and recommend changes to prevent future accidents. Performs inspections and audits of facilities, equipment and processes recommending corrections or additional precautions to ensure compliance to established regulations. Additionally, Safety Representative has a broad and current knowledge of all government and applicable industry safety regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Safety Representative works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed. FDRsafety is seeking a Site Safety Representative to oversee a 1-year construction project near Newark, CA. This position is expected to operate on a Monday-Friday 40-50 hour/week Day Shift schedule with the potential for additional overtime. This individual will be responsible for providing toolbox talks, site walkthroughs, inspections, auditing, assisting, and advising management of their findings daily for a single site location.
Minimum Qualifications:- A Bachelor’s (4 year) or advanced technical degree in EHS Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or similar health and safety specialty area (i.e., Industrial Hygiene).
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience implementing the EHS management role(s) in an industrial, civil, or technology-related construction sector(s).
- In lieu of possession of a Bachelor’s or advanced technical degree, candidates MUST possess a minimum of five (5) years of experience implementing the EHS management role in an industrial, civil, or technology-related construction sector.
- Competency in one or more Occupational, Health, and Safety Management Systems (i.e. ISO 45001; OHSAS 18001, ANSI Z10).
- In-depth knowledge of the EHS laws, regulations, and standards for the region and/or project(s) they will be assigned to.
- Current training and/or familiarity with health and safety consensus standards (i.e., National Fire Protection Agency) which are specific or applicable to the construction industry.
