    Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school through a sequence of goal setting and long-range planning with faculty, staff, parents and student government representatives.

     

    PERSONNEL:

    1. Supervises, plans, organizes and directs the implementation of all school activities.
    2. Participates in the selection and supervision of all personnel assigned to the school.
    3. Orients newly assigned staff members and assists in their development.
    4. Evaluates and counsels all staff members regarding their individual and group performance.
    5. Plans and implements the inservice training of professional staff in conjunction with others.
    6. Supervises all professional, paraprofessional, and support staff assigned to the school.
    7. Provides leadership for the administrative team, team leaders, and other personnel.
    8. Administers the provisions of all collective bargaining agreements.

     

    PROGRAMS:

    1. Directs and assists in the development, revision, evaluation and coordination of the curriculum for the middle school. Works cooperatively with the elementary and high school administrators in systemwide curriculum efforts.
    2. Monitors the instructional program within the school.
    3. Works with the systemwide Director of Special Education to provide effective programs for the pupils in this area.
    4. Schedules learning activities and classes to meet student needs.
    5. Works with the administration to respond to systemwide curriculum needs.
    6. Assumes responsibility for keeping the school community informed about the school's instructional program.
    7. Supervises and evaluates the school's extracurricular and interscholastic programs.

     

    SCHOOL/COMMUNITY:

    1. Acts as a liaison between the school system and the community; explains activities and policies of the school, and serves as the representative of the administration and the school committee, encourages the active participation of staff, parents and community members in the life of the school.
    2. Provides support for the operation of the parent organization.
    3. Establishes and maintains an effective communication link with the school community.
    4. Provides leadership and support for the School Council.
    5. Provides opportunities to involve the parents in the day-to-day activities of the school.
    6. Establishes programs that develop strong community support.

     

    ADMINISTRATION:

    1. Initiates the development of the budget for the school.
    2. Assumes responsibility for the expenditure of funds assigned to the school.
    3. Maintains accurate records associated with the expenditure of funds and the receipt of supplies and equipment.
    4. Supervises the preparation and maintenance of all required records and reports.
    5. Assumes responsibility for the day-to-day safety and administration of the school plant.

     

    PUPILS:

    1. Establishes in conjunction with faculty and parents guidelines for appropriate student conduct; enforces discipline according due process to the rights of the students.
    2. Provides opportunities for student self-expression through programs and activities.
    3. Assumes responsibility in conjunction with other personnel for pupil attendance, conduct and health.
    4. Establishes a school climate that fosters mutuality of respect between students and adults.

     

    SELF:

    Develops a program for self-improvement; actively participates in inservice program; attends seminars and meetings on appropriate educational issues.

     

    SYSTEM:

    1. Works with school administration on problems of a systemwide nature__health, transportation, food services, special services and other management functions.
    2. Assumes responsibility for the implementation and observance of all school committee policies.
    3. Serves as a member of such committees and assumes such responsibilities as directed by the Superintendent.
