      EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

      • Central Point School District 6 is seeking outstanding candidates for the position of Crater High School Principal.
      • The principal provides leadership in the assessment of the needs of students, staff, and parents and in the development of appropriate educational programs and student activities.
      • The principal promotes a collaborative educational environment that includes teacher participation for creating and supporting an instructional and learning atmosphere that demonstrates improvement in student achievement.
      • In this role, superlative leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills are coupled with significant knowledge and experience with student instruction and learning assessment. The educational development of each student is the paramount goal.
      • The principal is the key administrative officer of the school. The principal is responsible for providing effective educational leadership, personnel supervision and evaluation, and overall school management. The principal acts as the school liaison to parents and the community. The principal’s primary responsibility is to coordinate an effective educational program for each student.
      • The principal position is multi-faceted and includes primary responsibility for:

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
      Hiring, Supervision, Evaluation
      • Responsible for the selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of all school personnel.
      • Responsible for the recruiting, screening, and recommending of qualified candidates for positions on the high school staff and in the orientation of new personnel.

      Curriculum, Master Schedules, Instructional Alignments
      • Serves as the instructional leader of the school’s academic programs.
      • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of curriculum alignment, instructional strategies, implementation, and assessment.
      • Responsible for the master schedule of classes, within established guidelines, to meet student needs.
      • Responsible for planning and administering staff-development activities.
      • Leads in the development, determination of appropriateness, and monitoring of the instructional program.
      • Supervises all activities and programs that are outgrowths of the school’s curriculum.
      • Allocates and coordinates the movement of resources and educational programs to ensure a healthy, safe, and productive learning atmosphere for staff and students.

      Facilities and Finances
      • Prepares and administers the school budget and supervises school finances.
      • Assumes responsibility for the safety, administration, and maintenance of the school physical plant.
      • Prepares and submits requests for purchase and repairs and monitors expenditures.
      • Supervises the daily use of the school facilities for both academic and nonacademic purposes.
      • Provides adequate inventories of property under the school’s jurisdiction and for the security and accountability for that property.

      Discipline
      • Establishes guidelines for student conduct and for maintaining student discipline, conducive to a healthy learning environment for student learning.
      • Maintains student conduct, enforces discipline in compliance with district policy and procedures, and affords due process to students.

      Community and Communications
      • Provides leadership in the assessment of the needs of students, staff, and parents and in the development of appropriate educational programs and student activities.
      • Directs a balanced program of extra-curricular activities; assesses needs for activities.
      • Participates in local and state organizations.
      • Selects and administers a model for school governance utilizing input from staff, parents, and patrons.
      • Provides annual and long-range plans for educational programs, activities, and evaluations as an outgrowth of the school governance concept.
      • Selects and administers a plan for utilization of volunteers.
      • Organizes and administers the public relations program for the school.
      • Maintains active relationships with students and parents.
      • Assumes responsibility for all official school correspondence and new releases.
      • Serves as an ex officio member of all committees and councils within the school.
      • Responds to written and oral requests for information.

      Regulatory
      • Assures school’s compliance with state and federal laws.
      • Leads the operation of the school in compliance with the Board of Education policy and the direction of the Superintendent.
      • Responsible for meeting the accreditation requirements for the high school.
      • Executes and enforces district policies and administrative regulations.
      • Plans and works cooperatively with vocational resource persons in developing vocational programs and placement practices accessible to all students.
      • Supervises the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of students through report cards and conferences.
      • Supervises the maintenance of all required records and reports.

      Other
      • Keeps supervisor apprised of events and activities of an unusual nature as well as routine matters related to the supervisor’s accountability.
      • Assumes responsibility for professional growth and development through membership and participation in professional organizations, through attendance at regional, state, and national meetings, and through enrollment in advanced courses.
      • Performs other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent.

      QUALIFICATIONS:
      • Current Oregon Administrative Certificate
      • Demonstrated skill in educational administration.
      • Demonstrated skill in program design and development.
      • Demonstrated skill in interpersonal relations.
      • Candidates should possess outstanding qualities of leadership, strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative leadership style, and a demonstrated ability to work with fellow administrators, staff, students, parents, and the community.

      COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
      • $130,813-$134,859 (depending on approved, accepted experience)
