Ship Engineer repairs and maintains gasoline and diesel engines in boats, such as yachts, tugs, and trawlers, following specifications. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field. Being a Ship Engineer is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs general maintenance of building and facility mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Performs general electrical repairs on appliances, house wiring, and air conditioning systems, switches, fixtures, and motors.
Makes repairs on plumbing fixtures, piping, drains, and sanitary systems.
Make repairs to woodwork, wall vinyl, doors and window, carpeting, etc.
Performs general mechanical maintenance on pumps, compressors, water heaters, automotive equipment, and other miscellaneous equipment.
Keeps records as required by company policy and procedures. Maintains logs on completed tasks. Prepares reports as requested by supervisors. Submits all requested reports/logs on time.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Education: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High school diploma preferred.
Experience: Basic experience in maintenance trades, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry. Minimal (1) one year hotel experience preferred.
*BLACK SEAL LICENSE PREFERRED OR MUST BE WILLING TO OBTAIN A BLACK SEAL LICENSE WITHIN THE 90-DAY PROBATIONARY PERIOD. Will be Reimbursed.
