Communication Arts and Cinema are seeking an energetic part-time
Communications Coordinator, effective immediately. This position will be housed
in and supervised within the department of Kinetic Imaging but will also work
in close collaboration with the Chairs of each of the programs noted above. This
position plays an integral role in how the department is presented and
communicates to all relevant parties, including prospective students, current
students, faculty and staff, alumni, and the general public at large.
Responsibilities include:
• maintains the department websites and all related social media accounts, and
posts relevant events and opportunities to the department listserv regularly.
• under the guidance of and in close coordination with the VCUarts Office of
Communications, ensures brand consistency with School standards, complies with
the university and school policy on accessibility, and promotes Kinetic Imaging,
Communication Arts, Cinema and Photography Film students and happenings to
the broader VCUarts community.
• creates promotional materials for all departmental events, visiting artists,
student exhibitions, undergraduate and graduate recruitment, summer
programming, etc.
• assists with alumni relations including interviews and articles highlighting
alumni, social media posts documenting alumni happenings, regular department
newsletters, etc.
• manages 2 work study students who assist with communications and media
support.
• gathers/archives student work regularly and edits reels for the department
monitors, open houses and other recruitment needs, and at the request for
student work, as needed.
• assists in organizing department events, undergraduate recruitment events,
etc.
Qualifications:
●Preferred minimum of 2 years managing social media accounts (Instagram and Facebook)
●Preferred minimum of 2 years of graphic design experience
●Based in Richmond, VA, or willing to relocate
●Proficient at creative writing/copywriting
●Experience producing digital and print content in addition to curating and editing
●Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign)
●Familiarity with Google Sheets, Docs, and Drive
●Detail-oriented and able to coordinate multiple projects on tight deadlines simultaneously.
●Proficient in photography including artwork documentation
●Proficient in WordPress
●Familiarity with Asana and MailChimp preferred
